Arbutus Big Red was established in 1926, and is the oldest active amateur football organization in the country, winning championships in 1983, 1984, 1998, and in 2009.
The team is operated by Mr. George Kendrick, who has been coaching since 1946 and is still going strong. His goal is to offers his knowledge of football to all his players and provide young men the opportunity to play the game of football. The Big Red is affiliated with the Mason Dixon Football League.
The Mason Dixon consists of teams from New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and North and South Carolina. The Big Red is also part of the Arbutus Athletic Association (A.A.A.). The Arbutus. A.A. is a proud sponsor of youth team sports in Arbutus and surrounding counties, and provides youth sports in football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, and girls cheer leading.
